Vegan Dinner Kit for Two
Vegan Dinner Kit for Two | Hudson Valley & NYC Pickup
Fall is right around the corner. You're back from vacation, the kids are back in school, and the rhythm of eating in has started up again.
So we made something for the two of you.
Dinner for Two is a complete plant-based dinner kit — two Chunk plant-based steaks, fresh produce picked from our fields in Gardiner, and a bottle to pair with the meal. You bring it home, you finish it in your own kitchen, and you sit down to something that tastes like the restaurant you didn't have to drive to.
It's 100% plant-based and homemade. And there's no tip, no service fee, and no bottle marked up three times over. We all love going out — but the math in New York right now, especially in the city, has gotten hard to look at. This is our answer to that.
What Biocyclic Vegan means, and why it matters to your dinner
Little Logan's Farm is the first and only Biocyclic Veganic certified farm in the United States with the certification for two years.
Here's the short version. Most organic farming — even excellent organic farming — still depends on animal inputs. Manure, blood meal, bone meal, fish emulsion. It's the default because it works and because it's what's available.
We don't use any of it. Our fields run on a closed plant-based fertility cycle: what the farm grows feeds the soil that grows the next thing. No animal inputs at any point. It's slower and it's harder, and it's the only way we were ever going to do it.
So when your dinner kit arrives with rainbow chard, Thai basil, or tomatoes, that produce came out of soil that has never had an animal product in it. As far as we know, there's no other certified farm in the country where you can say that.
One thing we're always straight about: not every ingredient in the kit is grown here. Some things — cashews, for example — don't grow in the Hudson Valley. Everything is 100% plant-based and homemade. The produce is ours. We won't tell you the whole plate came out of the ground twenty feet from the kitchen when it didn't.
The farm behind the kit
Little Logan's Farm is sixteen acres in Gardiner, New York, with about two acres in active cultivation. It's small on purpose. Everything that comes out of those two acres, we know by name.
The farm is named for my son, Logan. That's the beginning of the story and it's the reason any of the rest of it exists.
Lemons
I run the farm with my partner Eric. He grows and he teaches; the plants are his side of it. I handle the kitchen, the hospitality, and the business. Between us it works.
I've been vegan for over thirty years. In 2016 I started Vegan Wines, because most people don't know that wine isn't automatically vegan — it's routinely fined with egg white, casein, gelatin, or isinglass, and none of that has to appear on the label. I also founded VegFest Puerto Rico. The through-line in all of it is the same: good food, good wine, and a table with people around it.
The Chunk plant-based steaks
The steaks come from Chunk Foods, who we work with directly. We tested a lot of proteins before landing on theirs. These sear like a steak, slice like a steak, and hold up to real heat — which matters when you're the one finishing them at home.
Sear them hot, let them rest, slice against the grain. Spoon the tomatoes and their juices underneath, tear the basil over the top, finish with flaky salt. That's dinner.
Where to pick up your dinner kit
